The Town of Essex has installed an interactive "Dino Dig" at Colchester Beach.
A replica dinosaur fossil has been buried at the beach for children to uncover.
"This fun, hands-on activity encourages children to explore, imagine, and enjoy one of our beautiful waterfront destinations," said Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy. "We're excited to offer another family-friendly attraction that makes a day at Colchester Beach even more memorable."
People are asked to dig gently with their hands or small sand tools and then rebury when they're done so others can complete the activity.
To locate the fossil, start at the Dino Dig sign and walk south towards the water.
Colchester Beach is located at 100 Jackson Street in Colchester.
