The City of Windsor invites residents to celebrate the start of the Riverfront Summer Series at Reaume Park this Saturday.
From 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., residents can bring a lawn chair to the far east side of the park near Buckingham Road.
Big Louie and the Band will entertain those who go from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. DJ Kim Owens, Velvet Edge Dancers, and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra will perform until 8 p.m., and then it's The Legends of Motown until 9:30 p.m.
There will also be lawn games and nostalgic activities, including photo opportunities featuring the city's history, and food and drink options provided by WindsorEats.
The city is providing free shuttle service to the park from the WFCU Centre and Reaume Park every 20 minutes starting at 3:50 p.m.
The Riverfront Summer Series is sponsored by LiUNA625!, and features four signature events during the summer months along the waterfront.
"My hope is that every resident finds at least one Experience Windsor event that excites them, and then discovers several more," said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. "Through immersive riverfront events and neighbourhood gatherings in each ward across the city, to free skates, swims, and movies, I hope families fill our parks, neighbours meet neighbours, children create memories they'll remember for years, and residents proudly share their experiences with friends and family."
The Big Picnic is planned for Alexander Park on Saturday, July 25. The Riverfront Speakeasy is set for Saturday, August 22, in Michael D. Hurst Legacy Park on Riverside Drive West, and Great Canadian Riverfront in Dieppe Park and Gardens is on Sunday, September 6.
The city has more than 50 free events and activities planned for this summer and fall.
