Essex OPP make more impaired driving arrests

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have remained hard at work, handling motorists for alleged impaired driving.

Since Saturday night, Essex County OPP officers have made three arrests at various locations.

The first was in Leamington, shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday. Patrol officers investigated a traffic complaint on Oak Street East.

A 48-year-old man is charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration, having a blood-alcohol level above zero as a novice driver, and interfering with traffic.

Next, police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Amy Croft Drive in Lakeshore, soon before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A 37-year-old from Windsor is facing charges of dangerous driving, driving while impaired, driving with an open container, identity fraud, failure to comply with a demand, driving without a licence, and having a blood-alcohol level above zero as a novice driver.

Finally, the OPP conducted a traffic stop shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday in the area of County Road 22 and Commercial Boulevard in Lakeshore.

A 29-year-old Windsor resident is charged with driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration and making an unsafe turn.

The charges in each case have yet to be proven in court. Each driver's vehicle has been impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.

Each driver will have a chance to respond to the charges in a Windsor court later this summer.
