A 55-year-old Garden City, Michigan man is dead after drowning in the Detroit River in Amherstburg on Monday afternoon.
Windsor Police say the men were onboard a sailing boat when it capsized around 3 p.m. near Erie and McLeod Avenues.
Those on a passing vessel attempted to help the men after they went into the water until the Canadian Coast Guard arrived.
By then, one of the men had gone underwater.
Both men were pulled from the river, but one was pronounced dead at the hospital.
There's no word on the condition of the second man.
