The Windsor Goodfellows says a $10,000 donation from Caesars Windsor Cares comes at just the right time.
The donation on Tuesday will support the Goodfellows Lunch Bags for the Homeless Program.
Each month, volunteers with the agency distribute 800 lunch bags, providing more than 8,000 lunches a year for those experiencing homelessness.
Demand for the program has continued to increase, and the donation will help sustain one of the Goodfellows' most relied-upon outreach initiatives.
"This generous investment from Caesars Windsor will have an immediate and meaningful impact on our ability to serve those who need us most," said Goodfellows' President Steve Harrison. "Every lunch bag we hand out represents more than a meal. It represents compassion, dignity, and the knowledge that someone in our community cares."
Approximately 95 per cent of donations to the Goodfellows go to its programs. Only five per cent goes towards operations.
"As more people face challenges putting food on the table, the work of local food banks has never been more important," added Susanne Tompkins, Caesars Windsor's Manager of Public Relations and Communications. "Together we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbours and strengthen the community we all share."
