The Ontario government says it is investing a total of $11-million to support improved operations and shorter wait times at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare.
Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare is getting more than $2.1-million, or another 2.3 per cent in funding, while funding at Windsor Regional Hospital will go up 1.9 per cent as it collects another $8.9-million.
"These new investments in our Windsor-Essex hospitals will help ensure that families across the region will access the timely, high-quality hospital care they deserve, while supporting the dedicated healthcare professionals who deliver it every day," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. "By strengthening operations at Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, our government is reducing wait times and building a stronger, more connected healthcare system for our growing community."
The funding is part of a $1.1-billion top-up of the hospital sector, which was included in the 2026 budget.
At Windsor Regional Hospital, the funding will address inflationary and other wage pressures and reduce wait times for diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures.
At Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, it will support palliative care and rehabilitation services and programs for patients with mental health and addiction challenges.
The province plans to invest $64-billion in major health infrastructure over the next decade, including the new Fanscy Family Hospital, which will be built on Cabana Road East in Windsor.
