Windsor police say a man wanted for an incident two years ago has been arrested.
Alwassi Al Latif, who was placed on the Wanted in Windsor list in April, turned himself in to police headquarters on Monday.
He is charged with forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of extortion, and five counts of uttering death threats in a July 2024 incident.
Investigators say Al Latif allegedly forced a man into his vehicle and drove him to another location, where the victim was assaulted and robbed.
Police say the victim was threatened with more violence against him and his family if he told anyone what happened.
At the time of the incident, Al Latif was on a conditional sentence that required him to submit to electronic monitoring and not leave Ontario.
In October 2024, he was granted permission to leave the province without the monitor and had evaded detection for almost two years.
The charges have not been proven in court.
