Housing sales take another hit in August

The housing market continued to slow last month in Windsor-Essex, with sales down 8.55 per cent in August compared to a year ago.

The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors has released its monthly statistics for August.

The number of properties that changed hands last month was 428, compared to 468 in August 2025.

Housing sales have slipped 5.09 per cent so far this year.

The inventory is also shrinking. Real estate agents put 1,127 properties on the market, compared to 1166 a year ago, a drop of 3.34 per cent. Listings are down 3.26 per cent so far this year.

The average price of a home in the region didn't change much in August, slipping only 0.08 per cent, from $564,428 to $563,971.

So far in 2026, average prices have fallen 2.94 per cent from $573,560 to $556,676.
