Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Lakeshore have ticketed the parents of two youths after the youths violated e-bike use regulations.
Officers stopped two people under 16 on Tuesday after seeing them ride e-bikes on Notre Dame Street in Belle River.
A parent of each e-bike user was cited for allowing an underage user to operate an e-bike, a violation of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
The OPP say some people still aren't getting the message about responsible e-bike use.
"Traffic safety is everyone’s responsibility. Please do your part to help keep our pathways and roadways safe for everyone," read a social media post from the OPP.
Ontario law states that e-bike riders must be 16 or older, wear an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet, and that bikes have operable pedals and meet all provincial safety standards.
Riders must also follow the same rules of the road as bicyclists.
