Tecumseh to ask Windsor Transit for route extension on Tecumseh Road

Ridership on Tecumseh Transit is down, but revenue is up.

Tecumseh Town Council got a six-month update on Tecumseh Transit service during Tuesday night's meeting.

A report to councillors shows ridership in the first six months of the year fell approximately nine per cent compared to the same period in 2025. However, revenue increased by 15 per cent.

The report also outlined a possible transit model that would see Transit Windsor provide a direct route along Tecumseh Road between Windsor and Lakeshore. Council asked administration to request a cost estimate, which will be included in a later report to councillors.

By expanding Windsor Transit's route, Tecumseh Transit can focus on expanding service within the town.

Tecumseh Mall, local commercial areas, and L'Essor High School were the most popular transit stops, and ridership was highest during late morning and afternoon periods.
