The latest EQAO test results show most students in the Windsor area continue to struggle with math.
At the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, only 55 per cent of students met provincial standards in math, compared to 60 per cent the previous year.
Math scores for Grade 6 students at the Greater Essex County District School Board also dipped in 2026. Only 48 per cent met provincial standards compared to 51 per cent in 2025.
Across the province, math scores increased slightly, but only 52 per cent of students are meeting provincial standards.
“Today’s EQAO results show that Ontario students are making progress in math, with improvements in Grades 3, 6 and 9. Literacy results also remain strong, with nearly nine in 10 students meeting the provincial standard in reading and writing by Grade 6," said Minister of Education Paul Calandra.
Calandra said he has directed the Ministry of Education to work with every school board to review its Student Achievement Plan and identify where students are falling behind at the local level.
Reading and writing test scores stayed relatively consistent in both Grades 3 and 6.
