The Town of Essex has closed an investigation into a breach of the voters' list last week.
Questions were raised last Thursday when Essex mayoral candidate Trevor Menard said he was aware that some information on the list was shared with people who were not authorized to see it.
Menard alleged the home addresses of people supporting his campaign were shared on social media.
Following its investigation, the town confirmed that information about 64 residents was shared.
It says the information was collected by a candidate's campaign team through field observations and campaign notes. The candidate addressed the breach with the person responsible for the disclosure.
That candidate's election campaign team will contact all residents impacted by the end of the week.
"The Town understands that the candidate and their election campaign team have introduced measures to prevent a future unauthorized disclosure," said a release from the Town of Essex.
Mayoral candidate and incumbent Sherry Bondy later said the voters list wasn't compromised and the volunteer was fired.
