The University of Windsor is again celebrating the success of one of its popular graduate programs.
The Master of Sport Management and Leadership (MSML) program is the number-one program of its kind in Canada for the fifth year in a row, according to the 2026 SportsBusiness Postgraduate Course Rankings.
Since the rankings were first published in 2012, U of W's MSML program has ranked first 12 times, and has always ranked in the top 40 worldwide.
U of W Kinesiology Department Chair and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. Jess Dixon, said the prestigious ranking reflects the discipline's continued relevance and the quality of teaching.
"For the past 15 years, SportBusiness has been ranking postgraduate sport business programs from dozens of different countries. Over that time, a lot has changed in the business of sport, including how the rankings are calculated," said Dixon. "What hasn’t changed, though, is our program’s ongoing commitment to quality academic programming and teaching, which continues to pay dividends by helping our graduates launch successful careers in the sport industry."
The MSML program is ranked 22nd in North America and 34th around the world. It's offered in thesis and internship modes.
The thesis path takes about 24 months to complete with two courses, regular consultation with a thesis advisor, and an emphasis on research.
The internship has four elective courses, including a required 360-hour placement. The timeframe for completion is 16 to 20 months.
