Spitfires to open home season September 28

The Windsor Spitfires now know who they will be playing to start the 2024-2025 OHL campaign.

The league announced the Opening Night schedule for all 20 of its teams on Thursday, and the Spitfires will open their home season against the Kitchener Rangers on September 28. The puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

Windsor will open the season on the road, starting on Wednesday, September 25, when they help the Saginaw Spirit celebrate their Memorial Cup win. The Spitfires will then play at Sarnia on Saturday, September 27.

The Spits are looking to bounce back after a poor 2023-2024 season when their 44-point total was the worst in the Western Conference. Only the Niagara IceDogs, with 42 points, were worse in the entire league.

Casey Torres has served as acting head coach since November 2023, when Jerrod Smith was let go. Assistant coach Andy Delmore resigned the same day.

The OHL will release the entire 2024-25 schedule on Monday.
