Canadian sprint canoeists take bronze in 500m

Canada is coming closer to its 24 medal total from the Tokyo games after Katie Vincent and Sloan MacKenzie claimed number 22 on Friday.

The sprint canoeists took bronze in the women's doubles 500 metre final with a time of 1:54.36.

This is Vincent's second bronze medal. She came in third with a different partner in the Tokyo Olympics.

The podium mirrored the last games, with China coming in first, Ukraine taking second, and Canada in third.

China's Shixiao Xu and Mengya Sun won gold with an Olympic record time of 1:52.81. Ukraine's Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok finished six hundredths of a second faster than Canada with a time of 1:54.30.
