Spitfires double up Ottawa

The Windsor Spitfires have now won three straight games.

They hosted the Ottawa 67s on Saturday and ended up winning 6-3. The Spitfires were coming off wins against Kitchener and Barrie.

Ethan Belchetz opened the scoring for Windsor in the first period with his 7th of the season. His goal was assisted by Cole Davis and Carson Woodall.

Ottawa would tie the game before the end of the period after Nic Whitehead found the back of the net.

Jack Nesbitt gave the Spitfires the lead back just over three minutes into the second period. His 11th goal was assisted by Ilya Protas and Noah Morneau.

Ottawa once again tied the game with just a couple of minutes left in the period thanks to a powerplay goal from Filip Ekberg.

Protas and Liam Greentree would score under a minute apart to give the Spitfires a 4-2 lead heading into the third period. Both added an assist on each other's goal, while Morneau picked up his second helper on Greentree's marker.

Luca Pinelli got Ottawa back within a goal early in the period, however, that’s as close as they would get.

Davis later scored his 7th of the year, assists by Nesbitt and Ryan Abraham, with Greentree getting his second goal to cap the scoring. Nesbitt and Protas ended up grabbing assists on the last goal.

With the win, Windsor’s record improves to 17-5-2-0, while Ottawa moves to 8-8-2-3.

The Spitfires’ next game is on Wednesday, November 27, at home against the Saginaw Spirit.
