The Windsor Spitfires beat the best team in the OHL in an offensive shootout.
They hosted the London Knights Sunday afternoon and won 8-5.
It was London who came out firing with two goals in the first period from Easton Cowan and Logan Hawery.
The Spitfires cut the lead early in the second period when Jack Nesbitt found the back of the net for his 23rd goal of the season. Getting the assists were AJ Spellacy and Cole Davis.
Landon Sim regained London's two goal lead halfway through the period, however, the Spitfires would score four times before the intermission.
Nesbitt scored his 2nd of the game from Liam Greentree and Carson Woodall.
Tying the game was Luke McNamara. His 12th goal was assisted by Davis and Josef Eichler.
Giving the Spitfires their first lead was Cole Davis. Eichler with the only assist on Davis' 20th of the season.
Capping the scoring in the period was Greentree who tallied his 49th of the year. Noah Morneau and Woodall with the helpers.
Cowan got London back within one around five minutes into the third period.
Davis restored the Spitfires two-goal lead with his 21st goal with Spellacy and Wyatt Kennedy getting the assists.
Jacob Julien got London once again back within a goal just over a minute to go in regulation, however, two empty-netters from Conor Walton and Morneau officially stopped the Knights comeback attempt. Both goals were shorthanded with Walton's 3rd of the season being unassisted and Morneau's 29th being helped by Kennedy.
With the win, Windsor's record improves to 44-16-4-2, while London moves to 53-10-2-0.
The Spitfires' next game is on Thursday, March 20, at home against the Sarnia Sting.
