Six local festivals make the 2024 Top 100 Ontario Festivals and Events list

An independent panel of judges has chosen this year's list of Ontario's best festivals and events, and six local ones made the list.

Festivals of every kind, from every corner of the province, send in their submissions each year. The winners are announced at Festivals and Events Ontario's annual conference.

This year, the conference was in Niagara Falls.

The six that were recognized locally were in the Southwestern Ontario category. Listed alphabetically, they are the Amherstburg River Lights Winter Festival, Amherstburg Uncommon Festival, Carrousel of Nations, Essex Fun Fest, Kingsville Migration Fall Festival, and the LaSalle Strawberry Festival.

Some festivals are honoured, year after year, for their efforts to put on the best event possible and excel within the industry.

"We are deeply honoured to have Carrousel of Nations be named among the top 100 events in Ontario once again," said Executive Director of the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County Fred Francis. "This recognition speaks volumes about the commitment of our staff, village representatives, numerous volunteers, and incredible sponsors who continuously strive to celebrate diversity and advocate for inclusivity within our community."

Carrousel of the Nations started in 1974 and has become a centrepiece of the region's summer festival season. With a diverse array of villages showcasing the traditions of 16 different nations and cultures, it's an opportunity for Windsor-Essex residents to learn something new about others in the community, experience their music, and try their cuisine.

Last year, Carrousel of the Nations was named the best festival and event at Attractions Ontario's Ontario Choice Awards.

This year's event is from June 14 to June 16 and June 21 to June 23.

This year's LaSalle Strawberry Festival runs from June 6 to June 9. Essex Fun Fest is from July 4 to July 7. Amherstburg's Uncommon Festival takes place between September 20 to September 22. The Kingsville Migration Fall Festival is from October 17 to October 20, and Amherstburg's River Lights Winter Festival starts on November 16 and wraps up on January 5, 2025.
