The federal government is putting $400,000 into a wine grape research program at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research and Development Centre in Nova Scotia.
Although focused on that province's wine industry, Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay suggests the researchers will identify new opportunities for growth and increase demand for all Canadian wines.
The money will help pay for three new federal scientists for the Centre.
Research at the Nova Scotia site will complement wine research being conducted at another federal facility in B-C and at academic institutions and within the wine industry across Canada.
