The CFA's summer board meeting called for the government to consider agriculture when looking at policy changes linked to trade and transportation.
The board pointed out rail transportation is a critical concern for grain farmers servicing customers overseas.
And the CFA wants the government to include support for young farmers and new entrants to the industry as a priority in future policies.
That includes addressing transitional funding for intergenerational farm transfers and seed money for new operations.
Federation officials met with the country's agriculture ministers after that meeting and before last week's FTP meeting in Calgary to discuss their recommendations.
