Leamington mother Sandra Dick is cautiously optimistic with the new plan laid out for obstetrics services in the town.
She was one of about a hundred attendees of a special meeting on the new service model recommended by an expert panel reviewing the matter.
"It's an overall positive decision," says Dick. "I think it's all going to come down to how it's implemented though. It's all going to be in the details. We're going to be watching closely to see how it's all actually put into place."
Dick has been part of the movement to keep the OB open in Leamington since it was first recommended for closure for the end of March and recently had her newborn at the hospital.
"I thought I was going to be forced to deliver in Windsor, so I'm very grateful it's gone this far. This is sort of what I hoped for, but we have to actually wait to see what happens," says Dick.
The public has 30 days from the May 5 meeting to give their written submissions regarding the new model either through the Erie-St. Clair LHIN website, by mail or by dropping the letter off at the office.
