Garbage Collection Day Changes

In an effort to make garbage collection safer, the municipality is adjusting collection days for a number of communities. in Chatham-Kent.

Bothwell, Dresden, Thamesville, Highgate, Howard, Wallaceburg and Chatham will have their collection days changed. But District Manager Steve McArthur ensures this will be the only change to their service.

"Residents still get their once a week garbage collection, and every two weeks, their recycling."

McArthur adds the rescheduling is part of an effort to improve safety. Trucks have been rerouted so they are able to make right-hand turns the majority of the time. He says this could also potentially save money.

"From a safety aspect, there won't be that high risk of collisions or injuries to employees and residents, so there could be cost reductions that way."

Below is a list of the affected towns, along with their new garbage collection days. Recycling collection days remain the same. Blenheim, Dealtown, Ridgetown, Romney, Erieau, Shrewsbury, Tilbury and Wheatley schedules remain unchanged.

Bothwell - Tuesday

Chatham and Fringe - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Wallaceburg - Friday only

Rondeau - Tuesday

Dresden - Tuesday
