Get ready to douse your breakfast in maple syrup.
The fifth annual Shrewsbury Maple Syrup Festival is coming up in the middle of March.
Organizer Ken Bell says they're preparing for a big crowd of approximately 600-700 people.
"We're very much equipped to handle more [people]," says Bell. "The pancake breakfast is popular and people really like the tours of Sinclair Bush. There's kind of a mix of an ecological tour and maple syrup production."
Looking at this year's production, Bell says it's been a hard for those in the maple syrup industry in Southwestern Ontario.
The mild temperatures don't exactly make for a good harvest.
"If we were to get a number of years like this in a row... it would certainly be knocking down production in time," he says.
But Bell and fellow producer Don Giffin still expect to have plenty of syrup to go around.
"As far as our festival goes, we produced syrup from our own trees in Shrewsbury last year and we produced enough syrup for the next three years," says Bell.
The festival will run from 8am-12pm on March 18.
