Two dogs are being given a second chance at a happy and healthy life.
An Ontario SPCA agent with the Sarnia Humane Society and Chatham-Kent police executed a search warrant at a home on Wedgewood Avenue in Chatham on December 7.
The OSPCA said two large breed dogs were found at the home. One of the dogs was under an order to see a veterinarian because of a "body sore and condition", the other dog was reportedly under distress as well.
The owner, who has not been named, surrendered the dogs to the Sarnia Humane Society.
“When you take on the responsibility of owning an animal, you must tend to the animal's needs regardless of financial situation," said Agent Ryan Sparks in a statement. "Resources such as the Sarnia Humane Society and OSPCA are available to help in times of need byways of surrender. Permitting an animal to suffer and be in distress is absolutely not acceptable."
Both dogs were put up for adoption after receiving care. One has since been adopted.
