Threatening messages lead to charges

A 43-year-old Tilbury woman is charged with uttering threats after allegedly sending some threatening messages to another woman she knows.

Police said it started with some Facebook messages Thursday morning and ended with some text messages. Officers said they were able to identify the person who allegedly wrote the threatening messages and arrested her.

She was later released with conditions and a future court date.

Expired validation tags check ends with arrest

Chatham-Kent police have charged a 28-year-old Howard Township man with failing to comply with his release conditions after pulling him over during a traffic stop.

Police said an officer on general patrol stopped the vehicle Thursday because it had an expired validation tag and then learned that the driver had a woman in the vehicle who he had been ordered by the courts not to communicate with.

A 28-year-old man was arrested, charged, and taken to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Two drunk in public arrests

A 54-year-old Chatham man and a 36-year-old Corunna man are both charged with public intoxication after police responded to two separate incidents in Chatham-Kent Thursday night.

Police said the 54-year-old man was arrested in the area of Pine Street in Chatham at around 7 p.m. because he was unable to care for himself.

The 36-year-old Corunna man was arrested after police allegedly saw him staggering down McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg at around midnight.

Both of the accused were arrested, charged, and released once they sobered up.
