Cash register stolen during Wheatley break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they work to identify a suspect in connection with a break-in at Mom’s Clothing Shop on Little Street South in Wheatley.

Officers said an unknown man entered the store at around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday and took off with the cash register. He reportedly fled the area in an older-style black minivan.

Investigators said the suspect is described as a man in his 30's, approximately 5'5" with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a dark toque and dark clothing with a high collar that was covering his chin.

No injuries after crash near Hwy 401 ramps

A 64-year-old man is charged with failing to yield the right of way in connection with a two-vehicle crash on Bloomfield Road near the Highway 401 on and off-ramps.

Police said officers were called to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, adding that no injuries were reported, but the damages were estimated at $5,000.

Trio of arrests on outstanding warrants

Three people who were wanted by police for either breaching their probation or violating their release conditions were arrested on Tuesday.

Police said a 23-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested in Chatham Tuesday morning -- he was wanted for breaching his probation order.

A 28-year-old man of no fixed address who was wanted in connection with some shoplifting incidents at Walmart and the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham was also arrested on Tuesday.

Officers said they caught up with the second man on West Street in Chatham. He was also wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions and failing to attend court.

And in the third case, CK police arrested a 20-year-old woman of no fixed address who was wanted for failing to comply with her release conditions and breaching her probation order. She was arrested Tuesday night in Chatham.

All three of the accused were taken into custody pending bail hearings.
