The number of active COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent has been cut nearly in half.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit reported only 12 active cases of COVID-19 on Monday, down from 20 reported on Friday.
Since the Health Unit's last update on Friday, there have been four new cases reported in Chatham-Kent while 12 cases were marked as resolved.
There are no current hospitalizations. Outbreaks remain in place at one place of worship and one congregate living setting.
No COVID-19 outbreaks have been declared in any local schools. However, on Friday the Lambton Kent District Scool Board reported a positive case at Chatham-Kent Secondary School and Tecumseh Public School. A positive case was previously reported at McNaughton Avenue Public School.
Walpole Island First Nation now has two active cases of COVID-19 after one new case was reported on Monday.
The province reported its highest daily increase in new cases on Sunday at 1,328 cases. On Monday morning, Ontario's Health Minister announced 1,242 new cases across the province. Of the new cases, 483 were in Toronto, 279 in Peel, 107 in York Region, 74 in Ottawa, and 57 in Hamilton. MPP Christine Elliot also said 821 more cases have been marked as resolved.
