Entegrus generates $280K in donations

A donation that totals $280,000 aims to support those who may have fallen on financial hardships, especially this year, and have been seeking help from charitable organizations.

Entegrus has donated $200,000 through its corporate donation program to the United Way of Chatham-Kent's COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund. An $80,000 donation has also been made to the Salvation Army branches of Chatham-Kent, St. Thomas, and Strathroy.

President and CEO of Entegrus Jim Hogan said the COVID-19 pandemic has had "a profound impact" on everyone and the money donated to these organizations will ensure that those who are most vulnerable get the help they need.

“Entegrus is known for assisting other utilities in times of crisis after devastating storms in both Canada and the United States,” said Steve Pratt, CEO of the United Way of Chatham-Kent. “It’s comforting to know that when help is needed in our own backyard, Entegrus is here to answer the call. This significant contribution will help position us to weather this unprecedented storm we are facing in our own community, ensuring basic needs will be met for those who need it most.”

As for the donation earmarked for the Salvation Army, funds were divided based on customer population. The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries will receive $46,000, The Salvation Army St. Thomas Citadel and Community Ministries will receive $23,000, and The Salvation Army Community and Family Services - Strathroy will receive $11,000.

"An unprecedented amount of people will be looking for assistance this year," said Hogan. "We have allocated funds to support the organizations in our communities who support our vulnerable population."

According to a media release from Entegrus, current customers who are facing financial difficulties can contact the customer service department from Monday to Friday during business hours to go over possible options.
