St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation has received a financial boost that will help bolster spirits of frontline health-care workers and patients battling the coronavirus.
The London Knights and the London Knights Alumni Foundation have donated $12,500 to the hospital foundation's health crisis fund.
“We are currently in unprecedented times and everyone needs to do their part to help flatten the curve so we can beat COVID-19," Knights General Manager Mark Hunter said in a statement. "We are proud to donate these funds to help support the ongoing efforts of our frontline health-care workers and those working diligently to find new treatments for COVID-19."
The money will be used to purchase comfort items for frontline workers and devices to allow patients to communicate virtually with loved ones. A portion will also be invested in hospital-based COVID-19 research, said Michelle Campbell, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation.
“We are so grateful to the London Knights Association and their fans for their generous donation to the St. Joseph’s health crisis fund," said Campbell.
The fund was established by the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation on March 30.
