Lambton's Medical Officer of Health is urging residents to be considerate of others as we enter Step 2 of the province's reopening plan on Wednesday.
Dr. Sudit Ranade said we have to keep in mind other people's risk tolerance.
"Limited socializing with other people is great, we need it, it's important, but you have to be respectful of the fact that there are a lot of people that are not ready for that yet," said Dr. Ranade.
Changes in Step 2 include allowing outdoor dining with six people per table, indoor social gatherings with up to five people and personal care services can reopen at 25 per cent capacity with mandatory face coverings.
Dr. Ranade said they will be keeping a close eye not only on the number of new COVID-19 cases in the next two weeks, but also the impact of those cases.
"Are there lots of hospital admissions, are there lots of people with severe disease, and we're hoping that with lots and lots of people immunized, that that won't be the case," he said. "That's going to be sort of a big kind of mind shift to move to, to not necessarily worry about what cases are happening everyday, and start thinking more about what's the impact of those cases."
As of Monday, Dr. Ranade said close to 35 per cent of Lambton adults have been fully vaccinated, over 72 per cent have had at least one shot.
