Chatham-raised singer's Hollywood concert bid ends in quarterfinals

Kaitlyn Frances' run at winning a chance to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles has come to an end.

The independent singer-songwriter, who was raised in Chatham and is now living in Windsor, placed 9th in voting for the quarterfinals of the Opening Act competition put on by Audacy.

"This feels like a really good accomplishment for where I am at in my career," said Frances. "Before this contest, I feel like a lot of the community didn't really know who I was or what I was up to. It was nice to get my name out there and that I am local."

Competing against about 15,000 other artists, Frances said she didn’t expect to make it as far as she did.

"It really helped boost my career," said Frances. "It pushed me to get into the studio more. I have been wanting to put out more music and to keep creating it."

Over the course of the competition, Frances has also been able to make new connections in the music industry and being featured by several news organizations across Ontario has helped her fanbase grow.

"I had so much support from my local community," said Frances. "I was really appreciative of the whole experience, it was a great time."

Looking ahead, Frances plans to create more music and dig deeper as an artist.

"It's given me the confidence to keep pushing forward," said Frances. "I can do this."

In a shoutout to her hometown, Chatham, Frances acknowledged the community's support, adding that she really felt it.
