Chatham-Kent residents are being asked to help come up with the names for two bridges in the downtown core.
Mayor Darrin Canniff and the TekSavvy crew made the announcement via social media in a pre-recorded video on Wednesday, saying they have launched a contest for the public to help decide on some names for the Third and Fifth Street bridges in downtown Chatham.
Pierre Aube, who is the chief operating officer at TekSavvy, said the company will be releasing a shortlist of names early this summer.
"We believe in actively involving the community in decisions that impact them," said a spokesperson for the company. "The 'Name the Bridges' contest is an opportunity for the public to contribute their ideas and leave a lasting mark on our community."
Last year, TekSavvy committed $100,000 each year for the next decade for the naming rights of the Third and Fifth Street bridges.
Residents can submit their name ideas through the TekSavvy website.
The marketing team at TekSavvy, along with the municipality, will review all the submissions and present a shortlist of names for the public to vote on.
The winning names for each bridge will be announced and the individuals who submitted those names will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a gift certificate from the company.
A formal announcement will be made sometime in August.
