The 19th annual Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s (CKHAF) Charity Golf Tournament has raised a total of $120,095 in support of the hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg.
CKHAF reported 136 golfers and over 30 volunteers contributed to the "overwhelming success" of this year's fundraiser held on June 7, 2024 at Maple City Country Club.
CKHAF President and CEO Christine Mitchell thanked the "generous" event sponsors and volunteers for their "tireless efforts."
"For a charity golf tournament to net over $120,000, it speaks volumes about the generosity of this community, and the number of local organizations and community members who are passionate about supporting our hospital,” said Mitchell. "We continue to be amazed by the support that we receive from across our community, and we’re so proud to have been able to deliver an unforgettable experience to our golfers."
CKHAF noted the tournament's success was made possible by the support of over 40 event partners and more than 30 volunteers.
CKHAF Board Chair Bob Hockney said the funds raised at the tournament will go towards equipment and facility upgrades at the hospitals.
“The needs and priorities of our hospital are always changing. The support that we receive through fundraisers like this is so important because it allows the Foundation to remain responsive and adaptable in our commitment to meet these evolving needs,” Hockney noted. “We are able to exceed our fundraising goals with this tournament year after year because of the incredible support that we receive from our sponsors, golfers and volunteers, and we are so profoundly grateful for their ongoing commitment to CKHA.”
Last year's golf tournament raised a record $131,245 to buy surgical equipment. That amount surpassed the previous year's amount of $110,340.
