Wallaceburg man arrested for assault, forcible confinement

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing multiple assault and forcible confinement charges following an incident early Thursday morning.

CK police said they were called to a Wallaceburg address just after 6 a.m. about a potential assault taking place.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said a 23-year-old woman was seen running down the street with obvious injuries.

Investigators determined that the woman had been assaulted and held against her will.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where he was held for bail.

Police investigating stolen boat

CK police have recovered a stolen boat, but some important pieces are still missing.

According to police, a boat was reported stolen from an address on Mirwin Road on Thursday. The boat was found later that same day, but it was missing a 25hp Mercury outboard motor and electric trolling motor.

The investigation is ongoing.

Traffic stops lead to charges

Chatham-Kent police were busy on the roads on Thursday.

At 8:15 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg as officers believed the driver to be unlicensed.

The driver, a 35-year-old man from Walpole Island First Nation, was issued with three summonses. Two for driving while suspended and one for driving while disqualified.

The vehicle being driven was also towed and impounded for 45 days.

In another instance, CK police pulled over a vehicle on Alexandra Avenue in Chatham for being driven with improper plates.

During the traffic stop, police also determined that the 56-year-old driver was also violating court conditions being being near the passenger in the vehicle.

The man was arrested and faces half a dozen charges, including driving while suspended, driving without insurance, and using unauthorized plates.

The man was held on bail for violating his previous release conditions.

Fraudster arrested upon release from jail

A 33-year-old man may see jail time in Chatham-Kent after being released in Sarnia.

Police said that the man has missed three separate court dates.

CK police arrested the man when he was being released from the Sarnia Jail on different charges. He was then taken to the Chatham-Kent Courthouse for a bail hearing.
