CK police joining fight against violent bail skippers

Chatham-Kent police say a new online tool to combat violent bail violators should be ready by this summer.

On Monday, CK police announced their collaboration with the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard (PBCD), a new electronic tool designed to enhance monitoring and enforcement of bail conditions for individuals charged with firearms offenses.

Police officials said the new tool gives front-line officers real-time access to critical data on individuals released from custody, including their conditions of release, photographs, addresses, and mapping data.

"This comprehensive database will support CKPS officers in ensuring compliance with bail conditions and improving public safety across Chatham-Kent and beyond," said CK police in a news release. "This tool will enhance communication among various jurisdictions, particularly in monitoring those individuals who are under release orders with conditions due to these significant charges."

CK police officers are being trained and tested to have the system "fully operational" by this summer.

"We are committed to leveraging this advanced technology to better serve and protect our community," noted police. "This initiative aligns with our ongoing efforts to enhance public safety through proactive and innovative policing strategies."

The dashboard initiative is part of a $112 million investment by the provincial government aimed at strengthening bail enforcement and monitoring for violent offenders.
