New Electrocardiogram testing systems introduced at CKHA

Two new electrocardiogram (ECG) stress testing systems are now available in the Diagnostic Imaging department at CKHA to detect problems with the heart rate or heart rhythm.

The systems can help doctors tell if a patient is having a heart attack or if they've had a heart attack in the past.

CKHA said the new ECG systems replace the previous systems, which had reached the end of their operational lifecycle.

“CKHA’s modernized ECG stress testing systems provide enhanced accuracy, real-time monitoring, user-friendly interfaces and integration into the department’s digital workflow, improving early detection and management of cardiovascular conditions,” said CKHA Interim Vice President of Performance and Chief Financial Officer Melissa Johnson.

The top brass at CKHA are thanking the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation (CKHAF) for helping to buy the equipment.

“This is another perfect illustration of the real impact that community support has in our hospital, and it’s a wonderful testament to what we can achieve together,” said CKHAF President and CEO Christine Mitchell. “Over the past year, we have witnessed unprecedented generosity from across our community, and this has enabled us to support our hospital, healthcare teams and local patients in some very meaningful ways. These new stress testing systems will only add to the incredible care already available at CKHA.”

Chatham-Kent has the number one heart attack rate in Ontario, according to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
