Not surrendering his firearms licence has landed a Leamington man in more trouble with the law than he was already in.

Chatham-Kent police alleged the 33-year-old man from Leamington refused to surrender his gun licence on Tuesday after being ordered by the court to do it.

That is on top of the charges he was already facing following a domestic dispute on Thursday of last week.

According to police, the suspect's 25-year-old female partner reported to police last week that she was the victim of Intimate Partner Violence, alleging that her partner had made multiple threatening statements, including intentions to cause harm and damage to the property.

Police said they arrested the man in southeast Chatham and charged him with two counts of uttering death threats.

On Monday, the suspect was ordered by the court in Chatham to immediately surrender his firearms licence along with all other related registration certificates, but he refused and was arrested again on Tuesday and was charged for failing to comply with his release order, noted CK police.

Police added that members of the suspect's family later turned over an expired gun licence.
