The buzzing of chainsaws will be heard over the next four days near Bothwell.
The third annual Timberfest opens on Thursday, June 5, and runs until Sunday, June 8, at 29996 Bothwell Road.
Fourteen chainsaw carvers from across Canada and the U.S. will be there, working until Sunday afternoon.
"We're going to be putting on a big show with some big sculptures throughout the four days," said organizer and world champion wood carver Mike Winia. "Each day around 1:00 starting on Friday, so Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we'll be doing a one hour speed carve for the public to watch the full creation, start to finish."
Winia added that some of the carvers that are coming have a lot of experience, but other are still rookies.
"Collectively together we have probably a sculpture on every continent. But we have, this year, a variety of artists I wanted the public to see the various different skill sets," said Winia.
The artists are given free rein and get to decide what they want to create.
"In some cases, they'll be making large sculptures that will take the entire duration of the event to create. Sometimes they'll do big benches, even bars and kitchen table sets. I've seen all kinds of different unique creations," said Winia.
The public is invited to attend from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Then on Sunday, they wrap up around 1 p.m. so they can auction off the pieces that were created.
"We shut the carvers down at 12 o'clock and then we kick off the auction right around 1 o'clock," said Winia. "We go through all the various pieces that were created and sell them off. Sometimes they go cheap and sometimes people fight over them, depends on what it is."
Winia added that he also has a little surprise planned.
"I'm going to be doing a different kind of an art form, never seen anywhere before in the world, done by a chainsaw. So anybody that comes, they're going to see a birth of some new type of art that people are going to be blown away by," said Winia.
Timberfest is free to attend, but there will be food and beverages for sale.
