CK celebrates growing population

Chatham-Kent's (CK) population is on the rise, according to new data from Statistics Canada.

The region has seen roughly 8,500 new residents since 2016 and has reached a population of 113,070 as of July 1, 2025.

In a statement, the municipality notes that this is a 1.23 per cent year-over-year increase, marking the fastest single-year growth rate in more than two decades.

“Our strong population growth, combined with rising incomes, shows that Chatham-Kent is competitive, affordable, and increasingly attractive within Southwestern Ontario," said CK Mayor Darrin Canniff.

The statement adds that CK's growth rate outpaced nearby municipalities, including Windsor, London, and Sarnia.
