London police are thanking the Western University Students' Council and the Fanshawe Student Union for helping to get the word out about responsible St. Patrick's Day partying.
On Tuesday, police released statistics from the annual holiday.
Police say there were 13 arrests and a total of 85 charges. Of those, 21 were laid under the Liquor Licence Act, nine were Criminal Code violations, 32 were laid under the Highway Traffic Act, and three were noise bylaw infractions.
Officers also handed out 58 warnings.
Police had warned revellers that there would be increased patrols in areas around Western University, Fanshawe College, and downtown London. That warning was spread through the work of the student associations at Western and Fanshawe.
Officers were also active on social media, specifically on Twitter with the use of the hashtag #dontinviteus2urparty.
Police have worked with student unions at the college and the university to ensure young people would not be gathering in areas like Thurman Circle and Broughdale Ave.
In 2012, a riot broke out on Fleming Dr. near Fanshawe College. Party goers gathered in the streets near Fanshawe College, setting fire to a CTV news van and pelting officers with bottles.
