A man charged in connection to a deliberate hit-and-run is out on bail.
Ali Salloum, 36, who faces numerous charges related to the hit and run, as well as several outstanding warrants, was released on bail following his hearing on Thursday.
His bail has been set at $5,000, and both his Canadian and Lebanese passports have been seized by London police. As well, Salloum has been restricted from leaving the province, he may not possess any weapons, and is restricted from contacting several individuals. He is also now on house arrest.
On June 25 around 12:15am, Salloum allegedly followed another person and intentionally rammed into their vehicle with his pickup truck on Oxford St. near Wharncliffe Rd. He is also accused of attempting to gain entry to the 29-year-old victim’s vehicle after the crash, but was unsuccessful. He then left the scene.
The victim was not injured in the crash and police say the two men know each other.
Salloum turned himself in at police headquarters on Monday. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement, theft under $5,000, uttering death threats, assault with a weapon, criminal harassment, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to remain at a crash.
Salloum’s court date is set for Thursday, July 28.
There is a publication ban on evidence presented in court.
