Capers To Return To Lightning

The London Lightning will have Marcus Capers back in the lineup on Thursday, after charges against him and Taylor Black were dropped and suspensions were lifted.

Capers and Black were arrested and charged in December after an incident at Joe Kool’s at 595 Richmond St. They were accused of assaulting a London police officer who had responded to the scene. Both were charged with assaulting a police officer, while Black was also charged with resisting arrest.

This week, it was announced that charges had been dropped after both men completed an accountability program.

On Tuesday, the National Basketball League of Canada announced that the suspensions levied against Black and Capers had been lifted.

“We are pleased for both young men that they no longer face any concerns with the law," the league said in a released statement. "Our hope is that this incident will serve as a lesson for all of our players to be aware of their surroundings and make appropriate judgements around the opportunities that celebrity brings with it. We welcome both young men back to the league."

The Lightning have activated Capers and he will play in Thursday’s game at home against the KW Titans. Black is not returning to the Lightning.

“We’re happy this situation has been resolved so that Marcus and Taylor can move forward with their lives.” said owner-GM Vito Frijia.
