Lightning survive Sudbury 104-103

The Lightning fought hard to claim a victory in Sudbury Sunday afternoon.

London fought off a late surge by the Sudbury Five and held on for a 104-103 win at Sudbury Arena. The Lightning are now at 5-7 on the season.

Sudbury held a slight lead after the first quarter, but the Lightning evened things up for a 46-46 score at halftime. London then took a slightly wider lead in the third, which was just enough to carry them through to the win.

Garrett Williamson led the Lightning with 14 points, including four-for-six from the charity stripe. Maurice Bolden followed close behind with 13 points, and Marvell Waithe came off the bench with 13 points and 17 rebounds for a double-double.

Cory Dixon led Sudbury with a double-double, consisting of 26 points and 16 rebounds. Travis Releford put in 21 points and Georges Serresse added 18 points, four boards and four assists.

The Lightning hold their next contest in the new year, when they host Moncton at Budweiser Gardens on Thursday night.
