A St. Thomas man was charged three times in a single day after allegedly getting into a spat with another man and damaging a soup kitchen and homeless shelter.
St. Thomas police originally arrested the 26-year-old just after 7 a.m. on Monday after the window of a downtown soup kitchen was smashed. He was later released with a future court date in relation to the incident.
Later the same evening, police used surveillance video to identify the man as the suspect wanted for damaging the door to a homeless shelter on Wellington Street. Shortly after that officers were called to a disturbance between two people outside of the same shelter. One of those involved was said to be the same man who had damaged the door earlier. He had taken off from the scene prior to the officers' arrival.
Police found the man inside of an ATM vestibule on Talbot Street around 10 p.m. and took him into custody without incident.
A 26-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with two counts of mischief to property under $5,000 and one count of breaching release conditions.
