What began as an argument over loud music in Victoria Park ended with four people, including a London police officer, hurt and a man charged.
A man and woman were sitting at a picnic table playing music in the downtown park around 7 p.m. on August 27 when they were approached by a man with a dog. The man began arguing with the couple about the volume of the music. As the dispute became more heated the man is alleged to have assaulted the pair.
When a passer-by tried to intervene, the man's dog bit him multiple times, police said. The passer-by pulled out a knife to defend himself against the animal, but the man took the knife and stabbed him.
Members of the police emergency response unit were called and while trying to arrest the man his dog bit one of the officers multiple times, police said.
The man was taken into custody and the dog was impounded by the London Animal Care Centre. A knife was also seized.
Three people and one police officer were taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
A 34-year-old London man has been charged with two counts of assault and one count each of assault with a weapon, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police said the victims and the accused did not know each other prior to the bizarre incident.
