School board acquires land for two new London elementary schools

Two new London elementary schools will be built in the Warbler Woods and Jackson Meadows neighbourhoods.

The Thames Valley District School Board announced on Monday it has acquired land for the pair of new builds.

The new elementary school in the southeast end will be located at Honeywood Drive and Gatestone Road, while the new west London elementary school will be at Upperpoint Avenue and Boardwalk Way.

“These schools will be located in new, vibrant and growing parts of the City of London,” said Board Chair Beth Mai. “Thames Valley remains committed to providing quality education for all students and looks forward to the benefits these projects will bring to the district.”

The school board received $55.3 million in funding from the province in April to construct the new schools in the fast growing regions of the city. The $28.2 million southeast school will have enough space for 655 students and include a five-room childcare centre. The $27.1 million west London school will accommodate 525 students and include a five-room childcare centre.

The public will be able to learn more about the new schools at information sessions expected to be held this fall.

It is anticipated both schools will be open for the 2026/2027 school year.
