Investigators with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) says they are currently looking into the discovery of numerous animal remains discovered earlier this week on a property near Durham.
OSPCA Inspector Brandon James tells CKNX that they received the report on Tuesday (March 15, 2016) and the investigation is currently in the early stages.
"It's important that everyone understands that this investigation involving such a large number of animals, variety of different types of animals, involving deceased animals with an undetermined time and cause of death can be very complex, it can often take a few weeks to conclude," says James.
While no further information has been provided, James says they are in the process of gathering evidence at the location.
"We will follow up on the new information that we have gathered over the last few days, it is still ongoing," adds James.
James says they're encouraging the public to contact the OSPCA with any information surrounding this case.
As far as the types of animals, the number of animals and manner of death, no information has been released at this time.
