Kick it to the curb in Clinton

The town of Clinton is hosting a yard sale with a twist at the end of the month.

Community Improvement Coordinator Angela Smith said it's similar to a town-wide yard sale, except everything is free.

"We've asked residents to put a "free" sign on their items and anybody that's hunting for treasure to please take things only that have a "free" sign on them.  If there's a question, if it looks like it may be part of their yard decor, if you're not sure, just ask," said Smith.

She said she's heard about the Kick it to the Curb idea being done in other communities and it's worked very well.

"I think it's timely, with our closure of our landfill site. It's a good way to perhaps get rid of things you no longer use, that aren't necessarily destined for landfill anyway, so it brings together those that would like to get rid of things and others that are looking for something," said Smith.

The Kick it to the Curb events runs Friday, September 28 to and Sunday, September 30 and people are asked to take any leftover items back into the house by 6 p.m. on Sunday.
