One final heat record fell in midwestern Ontario before the summer-like temperatures came to an end earlier this week.
The Wiarton area saw the daytime high on Monday climb to 26.9 C. That just narrowly broke the 20-year-old record high for October 6 of 26.6 C set in 2005.
The scorching conditions that moved in last weekend also snapped heat records Saturday and Sunday in North Perth and Mount Forest.
There will be no temperature records smashed on Wednesday as rainy weather Tuesday ushered in noticeably cooler conditions. The national weather agency is calling for a more seasonal daytime high of 14 C.
Wednesday night, midwestern Ontarians will get a taste of things to come, as the low will dip down to zero. Environment Canada initially indicated there would also be frost overnight, but has since removed the threat from the forecast.
