New OB/GYN Coming To Leamington

Leamington District Memorial Hospital will soon have a second physician joining the maternal newborn obstetric team.

Dr. Idris Yekinni is starting at the hospital on November 1, 2016.

Director of Communications Bill Baker says this will allow them to grow the program at Leamington hospital.

"Levels before would be at around the 300 mark in terms of expectant mothers who delivered, we would hope that this brings us up, over a period of time, to around 400," says Baker.

Dr. Yekinni is currently practicing at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan, Saskatchewan. He completed his specialist training in Ireland and completed post graduate work in the United Kingdom.

"My family and I have been looking for the right opportunity to move to Southern Ontario and we feel Leamington and the surrounding area will be an ideal fit," says Dr. Yekinni in a news release from LDMH. "During our two visits, over the last couple of months, we were made to feel at home and have enjoyed the surrounding communities. I look forward to working in the area and raising my family here."

Potential patients will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Yekinni at an engagement event planned at Deer Run Church on October 12, 2016.
